Medieval Dancing

Dancing at a banquet

'Fun' dancing, suitable for all abilities

As with the music, there are two options available for dances at a banquet or themed event.

Where historical accuracy is paramount for your event, we can arrange for an instructor to teach period dances, with all the correct steps and moves.

These dances can however be quite complicated. My theory is that the formal courtly dances were intended to be so fiendishly intricate that courtiers didn't have any spare capacity to engage in plotting and scheming at the same time!

Usually, we are asked to keep up the momentum of an event, keep things flowing and provide a 'fun' and inclusive set of dancing suitable for all to enjoy, regardless of age or ability.

So normally we use the simpler 'County Dances' as they are very suited to this. We also normally use a range of instruments based on suitability rather than historical accuracy, as well as a small sound system so that the dancers can hear the 'caller'.

But we are happy to arrange either style of event, depending on what you would like.
